Project Description
Bantu is a marketplace app designed to help its users find hairdressers specialized in Afro hair based on their preferred criteria such as: location, proximity, hairstyle, hairstylist ratings, etc. On the other hand, the app allows hairdressers to advertise their services.
The problem this company is solving is the fact that there are very few hair salons that can cater to the people with afro hair, which requires a unique know-how.
The targeted users of the app can be broken down into two categories:
- The hairdressers who are advertising their Afro hairstyling services
- The customers, who are seeking services by a hairstylist specialized in Afro hair
- Appeal to users of different segments (age, income etc)
- An opportunity to generate revenue from bookings
- Create brand affinity with Bantu App
Based on the target audience, 4 personas were created to derive our design requirements; the below key criteria were used to create our 2 “hairstylist” personas:
- Part time / full time
- Specialized / generalist
- Professional stylist / part-time side hustle
With a better understanding of our personas, some functional specs were derived; these specifications ensure that the personas’ needs are satisfied while using the Bantu app. Since this project was an improvement (rather than designing from scratch) only features that didn’t require drastic changes in the layout were proposed.
Based on the target audience, 4 personas were created to derive our design requirements; the below key criteria were used to create our 2 “customer” personas:
- Student / professional
- Self / parent
- Trendy / sticks to regular hairstyles
- Commutes via public transit /access to a car
Low fidelity wireframes were created to convey the general UX and UI changes that might be required. Each UI element and each UX flow captures the functional requirements that were identified earlier in the process.
