Justice, Equality & the Engineering Profession

About the session

Year: 2020

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa invited me to speak with the first year students, during frosh week. The goal of the session was to discuss point around how engineers shape the world, and how this further plays a role in organizations and society.

Through conversation, I tried to get students to harness critical thinking when evaluating the solutions they develop, and have them be more aware of the difference they can make in the world with an engineering career.

As an alumni, avid volunteer and a professional with several years of experience I was able to connect the dots between what is taught in engineering school and how the output of engineering work has a socio-economical impact in the world – the less technical side of things we are taught in school.
